All Cowling Covers are made from Surlast

SurLast is a 100%  solution dyed light weight Polyester with a urethane coating. Excellent UV, high level water and mildew resistance. This material comes with a 3 year warranty. We recommend this material for aircraft that will be outside continually and in harsh sun rays.  SurLast comes in a variety of colors if requested. Recommended for aircraft that will be outside 24/7 and in high winds. This material is ideal for pilots that travel often. This material is light weight and easy to travel with and comes in a variety of colors.

Cowling covers have a hefty 10 oz (about 3/4" thick) layer of polyester batting for heat retention. You can use in either summer or winter to keep the heat in or the birds out.

How well do our cowling blankets keep in the heat? Here are the results of a test that was done by one of our customers.

Kathy,

My apology for not getting back to you sooner to report on the new engine cover. Weather here has been terrible, plus holidays and a variety of other things have gotten in the way and we hadnít flown since the cover arrived. Finally, last weekend, we put it to the test.
For preheating we remotely switch on an electric oil pan heater of about 150 watts, and an air box heater/blower of about 500 watts. We turned both on three hours before expected start time. Engine intakes were plugged with foam, and your blanket secured. Hanger temp had come up to about 25 degrees by that time from a low of 5 degrees. At preflight time the cowling and engine block read 85 degrees as read by a heat gun and on start up the oil temp was 75 degrees! We were very pleased with the results. The blanket did a great job and we will continue to refine its use. Thanks again for a good product, and I will send pictures at a later date.
